Daily Habits and Hair Loss

Most dermatologists, hair stylists and nutritionists would altogether sing a similar tune to you and tell you that an unhealthy hair could be a manifestation of an unhealthy body and, believe it or not, there are daily habits that could actually damage the hair.

For example, they will tell you that some specific hair styles could actually damage hair, like when you pull your hair too tightly into a bun, a pigtail or a pony tail - it's cute, but the hair tissues are damaged from the stress of the pull. It is recommended that you cut your hair to a manageable length and keep it loose most times of the day so the hair could "breathe" and prevent it from falling off its root.

When you use too much hairspray or apply too much styling mousse or gel to your hair regularly and you don't condition it often enough to give it the much-needed breathing spell, the chemicals from these products would leave residues that are harmful to the hair and perhaps even result to thinning of the hair.

When you wash your hair using water that is too hot, or stay out in the sun too long over an extended period of time, this could damage your hair, too, and you can sometimes watch your darker hair fall off while your grey hair cling on for dear life. When you use shampoos that are heavy on fragrance, with strong anti-dandruff ingredients or other harsh additives in it, the scalp is damaged and hair loss might sometimes occur.

On the other extreme, what you do NOT do on a regular basis could also prove just as damaging to your hair. For example, if you do not eat the right kind of food that provides for a balanced diet, vitamin-and-mineral deficiencies will, in the long run, catch up with you and damage your body tissues, including your scalp and hair.

When you do not follow a healthy routine in your daily lifestyle, infused with a balanced physical stretches and a balanced, healthy diet, you are a candidate for the "damaged skin" syndrome. And when your skin is damaged, it is more likely that your hair is damaged, too, and could cause extreme hair loss at an alarming scale.
