Things to Consider When Choosing Your Hair Replacement AdhesiveThere is a wide variety of hair loss solutions in the market. Surgery and medication are not the only options. Wigs, toupees and other kinds of hairpieces (also called add-ons) are also popular options, and many satisfied customers can attest to them being wise investments! But when you're choosing between all the available options for hair replacement, adhesive chemicals are something you should also take into consideration. Choosing a good hairpiece means you would eventually have to choose a good hair replacement adhesive. Not all adhesives are created equal. On the most basic level, hairpiece adhesives don't even come in the same form - there are tapes, gels, creams, etc. If you aren't picky with your adhesives, you can buy a sample of all kinds and see which adhesive form you would be more comfortable with. But that's it exactly - what if you're picky? And not just in the sense that you're not comfortable with wearing a hairpiece in general, but what if your skin happens to reject certain types of adhesives? Adhesives are topical, which means they're applied onto the skin, and it can't be helped that some types of skin will be sensitive to some types of adhesives. The same principle applies to other kinds of ointments, gels, creams and medical tapes. Allergies aren't the only problem. A person may be suffering from a health condition that will work adversely with certain topical chemicals - a condition such as pregnancy. Many pharmaceutical companies that make topical medicines - such as adhesives, body lotions and facial astringents - make it a point to include warning labels or include lifesaving information in their leaflet. Pay close attention! Don't just buy the most popular adhesive in the market and think nothing bad could happen to you. Consult your doctor or your hair loss specialist before making the jump and buying over-the-counter topical implements. Another thing to consider is: how strong do you want your adhesive to be? This will depend on your lifestyle. You'll need to clean, groom or even change your hairpieces every so often, of course, but how often you have to replace your hairpiece isn't why you should consider the strength of your adhesives - if you live an active lifestyle, you'll need a stronger chemical to make sure your hairpiece stays in place! |
