The Processes Involved in Follicular Unit Grafting

So many scientific studies have been conducted to solve all imaginable problems that may occur on that one topper of man's vanity - his hair. Needless to say, hair loss is a vain man's worst nightmare. We have seen many comedic films, dated and recent, about those hairpieces flying off, somehow; and so, more permanent and more scientifically researched solutions have been offered through these past years.

So many recommendations have come out to solve the problem of hair loss, and man sometimes suffers the consequences of choosing the wrong one in his careless haste to remedy the situation. This is a popular mistake; since there is an infinite number of causes for hair loss, one man's cure could be another man's poison. The one great thing about all this in these modern times is the abundance of choices in approaching the problem, most of which were not available in the earlier years. And then, there is now the pre-examination prior to solution, a leisure that was not available before.

Based on the principle that man's hair is tissue that can be cut, shaved, coiffed or grafted to stimulate it to more luxuriant and handsomer growth, much like the substances of organic bodies consisting of cells and intercellular material, the cosmetic surgeons researched the science of hair transplant.

How is hair transplant done? The procedure is technically called follicular unit grafting. In layman's terms, after a careful examination to calculate the volume of follicular units per square centimeter is needed by the bald spot (there is actually a formula to calculate this), a portion of the scalp which shows the greatest potential of regrowth is then surgically grafted and inserted carefully and meticulously into the incised part of the scalp where more hair is desired. It is a very delicate procedure and any miscalculation of the density needed or a misdirection of the insertion would result to a chaotic hair growth, and a dissatisfied customer.

For best results, this operation may be conducted in more than one sitting. For the hair to grow looking natural and not artifically awry, much is dependent on the care that the surgeon would put into the procedure. Gather feedback from offline and online communities and choose your cosmetic surgeon well; make sure he/she is reputable.
